The following day the children were excited to be going to Susie’s beach hut at the seaside. “Can Salem come?” asked Kit. “I’m afraid not, dogs aren’t allowed on the beach during the summer” said Susie. “And it wouldn’t be safe to leave him in the car, as it’s too hot,” added Murph. “He’ll be Ok at home with plenty of water in his bowl and Firefighter Mark said he’d take him for a walk with Amber and Ash after lunch, when it’s cooler.” The weather was forecast to reach even higher temperatures, so Susie packed lots of suncream and made sure all of the children had a sun hat and bottle of water. She also placed the children’s newly painted T shirts in the boot with the two cool boxes of food. By the time they reached the seaside it was scorching hot. 10
