Susie knew she had to stay calm and put her household emergency plan into action. They put the sandbags outside, to try to prevent any more water coming in, and then everyone went upstairs. Susie rang 999 and told the Fire Service that they were stranded. The water inside the hall was creeping higher! Soon they heard the engine of the fire boat. The firefighters told everyone to carefully climb out of the window onto the flat garage roof. The children looked down at the boat. Looking down at the boat, they knew they were safe. Station Manager Ransley looked up at the throng of children and animals and winked at the firefighter sat next to him. “One for you I believe Fire fighter Noah!” 18
