travelling back in time to school

“I haven’t walked that way for ages. Shame I haven’t still got my bike.” sighed Nanny Dot. “It’ll be like travelling back in time to school” said Daniel, rather pleased with himself for his Back to the Future style reference. “I’ll pop next door to collect my bag.” said Nanny Dot, already heading for the door. While she was gone, kit whispered his idea to Susie, the one he was keeping to himself earlier. Susie agreed it was a great idea. The trip to school was fabulous. Nanny Dot showed them a shortcut past the cricket pitch, and then the rather overgrown trail that brought them alongside the Village Hall. She pointed out the blackberries on the bushes that she and Jack used to pick on the way home. On route, as promised, the children got to ride on the bridle path. Nanny Dot chuckled as she showed them where she had fallen off her bike and bruised her knee one windy morning in 1946. 14
