As the children arrived, Susie greeted them with a cup of hot
chocolate. Daniel and Nathan turned up in Farmer Bone’s truck, the
one the boys called the ‘sheep jeep.’
“Thanks Mr Bone that was brilliant!” chorused the boys.
“Happy to help,” said the farmer.
When the weather got this bad, Farmer Bone often offered his
services to help the villagers. Last year he joined the local 4x4
Volunteer Scheme and transported the district nurse around the village
to visit her patients. He even took Sarah, who lived next door, into
hospital to have her baby.
In January, the heavy snow and strong wind knocked down an electricity
power line in the village and caused a power cut. On this occasion,
Farmer Bone and his tractor were able to come to the rescue! He
travelled across the fields and delivered hot meals, prepared by Mrs
Bone and Susie, to the older members of the community.
