“Where were all the cars and buses?” asked Lydia.
“Buses only came twice a week and not many people had cars.
Cars were used mainly to go for a Sunday drive.”
“A Sunday drive! That sounds a bit boring.” said Kit
“Unless of course there was a picnic at the end of it.” he added.
“Always a picnic,” chuckled Nanny Dot, “in fact my bike had a picnic
basket on the front.”
“Have you still got it?” asked Lydia.
“Do you know Lydia; I think it’s still in the very back of the garage.”
“I expect a mouse has made a nest in the basket by now.” Kit joked.
“You’re probably right and I’m sure that the bike frame will be rusty
and the tyres will be flat,” added Nanny Dot.
Kit had an idea, but he decided to keep it to himself - for the time
being at least.
